The Statistics Department was established in 1387 (2008-2009) by admitting 25 undergraduate students to the Mathematics Department of the Faculty of Science at Zanjan University. In 1389 (2010-2011), the university's Statistics Department was formed with 4 faculty members. On average, this department admits 28 undergraduate students each year, and currently, there are 85 students studying at this level. Given the application of the statistics field in various industrial, agricultural, medical, social, managerial, and other areas, many governmental and private institutions such as the Ministry of Education, the Iranian Statistical Center, provincial offices, banks, industrial and commercial companies, hospitals, and more are seeking to attract graduates of this field. For this reason, the undergraduate statistics program has been established with the aim of training statisticians needed by the country for statistical investigations and analysis, as well as providing the necessary prerequisites for continuing education at higher levels for research and expanding the boundaries of knowledge in the field of statistics. The statistics department, considering its educational and research capabilities and the increasing societal demand for statistical knowledge at higher levels, has also been offering a master's degree program in statistics since 1390 (2011).
